2024 Soccer Challenge

Announcing the St. Patrick Knights of Columbus Council 4057 Annual Soccer Challenge 2024

All boys and girls ages 9 to 14 are invited to participate in the council-level competition for the 2024 Knights of Columbus Soccer Challenge. The local competition will be held September 20th, 2024 at 5:00 PM (registration begins at 4:30 PM) at Saint Patrick School (87 Marsh Drive). In the event of inclement weather, a rain date is set for the following Friday, September 27th, same time and location. 

The Knights of Columbus Soccer Challenge is sponsored annually, with winners progressing through local, district, and regional competitions in October. Winners of the regional competition are eligible to compete at the Pennsylvania State Competition on November 2nd, 2024 in DuBois, PA. International champions are announced by the Knights of Columbus international headquarters in New Haven, CT, based on scores from the state-level competitions. 

All boys and girls ages 9 to 14 (as of September 1, 2024) are eligible to participate and will compete in their respective age divisions. Participants do NOT need to be registered members of Saint Patrick Parish, Saint Patrick School, or Saint Patrick Athletic Association. All contestants on the local level are recognized for their participation in the event. Participants are required to provide written parental consent via the entry form score sheet. Youth compete within their age/gender division. Each contestant attempts 15 consecutive penalty kicks (after three practice kicks) on an open soccer goal from a designated distance (10-yards for 9 to 11 year olds, 12-yards for 12 to 14 year olds) with a regulation-size soccer ball (size #4 for 9 to 11 year olds, size #5 for 12 to 14 year olds). Points are awarded for all kicks that enter the goal based on where the ball crosses the goal-line (20 points top right/left corner, 10 points bottom right/left corner, 5 points all other areas, zero points for miss). Highest score wins; ties settled through tiebreaker of 3 additional kicks.
