Saint Patrick's School conducted their annual Golf Tournament fundraiser on September 11, 2020 at the Carlisle Barrick's Golf Course. Over 100 golfers were in attendance practicing social distancing, and having a great time at this charity event. Council 4057 was well represented by over a dozen golfers. The Council, and Steve Hutek's K of C Insurance were Celtic Sponsors for the event. The Council sponsored team consisted of Past State Deputy, Mark Jago, Rob Amaral, Doug Henschel, and Dave DeFour. The event was a great success in providing additional funding for the school.

The story of the miracle propelling Fr McGivney toward sainthood! Fr. Michael J. McGivney's first miracle has been approved! See more here:
https://www.fathermcgivney.org/en/for-the-media/michael-mcgivney-closer-to-sainthood.html Worthy Brothers all,
We are almost at the end of our Fraternal year…time has flown. Despite the pandemic we are such a strong council in programs that we have earned the submission for Columbian Award. We do not do our good deeds for award but to achieve programs that Supreme has determined to me most impactful to our Church Family and qualify for rebates to be used for other good works. Because we “cleaned up the roster” of past due members we took a large hit in recruitment. Despite that nuance we are not doing very well in recruiting new men. With the new Degree Exemplification, time is only 30 Minutes to be fully Knighted in degrees 1-3. We are men of Faith and Charity and not secrecy, which makes this more impactful and simple in honor of time. Even a full ceremony once we are able is only 35 minutes or so. That being said we need to do a better job in recruitment. Many of us serve on other Parish Committees, Boards, and other Ministries. Surely there are good men you would like to bring into our brotherhood and fraternity. If only a quarter of our 273 men in membership could bring ONE new Knight, I would hope that we could achieve that and not sure why we come up short…I am open to new ideas. The time in the Fraternal Year for Officer Nominations and Elections will be the focus of our Zoom Council Business Meeting, This Thursday, May 14th at 7PM. The last meeting thanks to Brother John Wargins was a success. If you would like to be nominated for an Officer Position, then please respond to this email. I have contacted our Officer Corps and all members are wiling to give another year in position should there be no other nominations. When only one candidate is proposed for a particular office and no further nominations have been made from the floor, the presiding Grand Knight (The Election Chairman) shall declare the individual elected by acclamation. (Members nominated from the floor must be present and accept the nomination or in case of an excused absence, present their acceptance of the nomination in writing. A nomination does NOT require a second and a member can nominate himself.) Elections are to be conducted in accordance with Robert’s Rules of Order. Brother John Wargins will host the meeting and a voting icon will be included. Only members in good standing may participate. Thursday’s 7PM meeting Will be on Zoom. Please contact me for the link. If you are holding COAL (Chance of a Lifetime) ticket chances please make arrangements with Brother and Deputy Grand Knight John Witkowski to either send him the money or return the tickets please. If you would like to buy some or know someone who does please reach out to him as well. Vivat Jesus, Chuck Bailey GK 4057 On March 29, St. Patrick Council 4057 held its yearly spaghetti dinner to support St. Patrick Parish's THREE seminarians as part of the KofC Refund Support Vocations Program. All proceeds from the this dinner - Council 4057's most successful to date - were donated to seminarians Kevin Key, Aaron Lynch, Clarke Stiteler, with each seminarian receiving a check for $2,891.
Worthy Brother Knights,
The COAL drawing is moving! The COAL Committee is as concerned as everyone else with the safety of our Brother Knights, Families and Friends. This concern is not limited to the day of the drawing but also includes Brother Knights selling and processing tickets. We are looking at multiple dates that allow Councils to sell tickets without putting Brother Knights in harms way and have time to gather the tickets. The COAL Committee will also need a couple weeks to prepare for the drawing. Therefor, we will not officially set the date. We would like to have the drawing on July 23, 2020 but realize it may not be possible until later, even September. We will keep you informed. You can continue to send tickets and we will process them as received but do NOT put yourself at risk. We are also eliminating the cutoff for the second Bonus Date. All books paid for by the Drawing will be $3.50. We still have a limited number of books available. The Scholarship money will be available for the start of 2020 – 2021 academic year starting in September, as planned. Keep praying!!! VATICAN PRAYER: All members of the faithful and other Christians are invited to participate in a special prayer of the Holy Father taking place in St. Peter’s Square this Friday, March 27, 2020. This prayer will be streamed from Vatican News at 6 p.m. in Rome (1 p.m. ET) on this link: https://www.vaticannews.va/en.html During the prayer, the Holy Father will grant to all participants a Plenary Indulgence before imparting his Urbi et Orbi blessing. More Information because I wanted to firm up my knowledge of this special occasion: An indulgences is defined as "the remission before God of the temporal punishment due for sins already forgiven as far as their guilt is concerned." The first thing to note is that forgiveness of a sin is separate from punishment for the sin. Through sacramental confession we obtain forgiveness, but we aren't let off the hook as far as punishment goes. Indulgences are two kinds: partial and plenary. A partial indulgences removes part of the temporal punishment due for sins. A plenary indulgence removes all of it. This punishment may come either in this life, in the form of various sufferings, or in the next life, in purgatory. What we don't get rid of here we suffer there. Occasions: The Urbi et Orbi address and blessing is the most solemn form of blessing in the Catholic Church, and is reserved for the most solemn occasions. These occasions include Easter, Christmas, and the proclamation of a newly elected pope concluding a conclave. Urbi et orbi blessings are usually given from the central loggia of Saint Peter's Basilica in Rome, at noontime, and are broadcast worldwide through the European Broadcasting Union and other linkups. The address concludes with greetings in many languages in relation to the feast celebrated. The Roman Catholic Church grants a plenary indulgence by the willful grace and intent of the Pope, on the usual conditions, to those who "devoutly receive" the blessing that the Pope imparts Urbi et Orbi. For any ordinary plenary indulgence, the "usual conditions" are: Reception of sacramental confession through a Catholic priest within 20 days (before or after) of performing the specific work Reception of Eucharistic communion within 20 days (before or after) of performing the specific work Prayers for the intentions of the Pope designated for that particular month or occasion, usually at the same time the work is performed, though recitation some days before or after also suffices Gaining a plenary indulgence requires that a baptized Roman Catholic must also exclude any attachment to sin, even venial sin Vivat Jesus, Chuck Bailey GK 4057 4057’s Seminarian Support Spaghetti Dinner was our most successful such event to date, with about 270 people in attendance! Our parish’s 3 seminarians, Kevin Key, Aaron Lynch, and Clark Stiteler were all in attendance as were St Patrick parish clergy and our diocesan vocations director.
U special thanks is due to Dave Henson, event founder and organizer, and Tony and Beth DeSorbo who ran the kitchen and prepared the food. Thank you to all who attended as well as all who have donated to make this event a success. Today is a busy day for 4057. Currently we are hosting the regional KofC free throw competition in the St Patrick Parish Activities Center. Great competition and great turnout!
Worthy Brother Knights,
Thank you so very much for being available when you are able for our charitable works. Often we are called upon short notice by the School or Church and your participation has been overwhelming! Thank you Brothers. Seminarian Dinner is going to be a great one. Brother Tony DeSorbo is making his famous sauce and meatballs! Brother and PGK Dave Henson: Good morning Brother Knights. Thank you for offering your services to help with this very important council event. I have outlined the duties of the day below, which include time frames per task. If for whatever reason you can no longer commit to the event, kindly let me know so I can look for others who can assist in your stead. I look forward to seeing you all next weekend. All are welcome to hang out and help out. Chat and catch up. Bring family and loved ones always! Additionally we sponsor the State Free Throw Competition. I am not sure who Brother Michael Schwartz has drummed up yet but believe he has our District Deputy Brother Jim Markley and Brother Carmine Ciicalese. Brother Adam Fabbri said he may be available and all are welcome to assist (as it is the same day as the Seminarian Dinner on the 29th in the PAC from 12-3. Need a brother to cover Dave Kern as he recently had surgery and may not be available at the registration table. Two events on one day is rough but the charitable needs are many. The dinner is thoroughly covered but we could use help for the free throw. Please let me know if you are available. There is a letter from Supreme circulating via email to all Knights to take action congressionally for the unborn. If you did not receive and need the link it is here: https://kofc.ac360.aristotleactioncenter.com/#/searchForMe for legislative action email links Phone directory for legislators: https://www.senate.gov/senators/contact Vivat Jesus and Fraternally yours, Chuck Bailey GK 4057 |

SAINT MICHAEL THE ARCHANGEL, defend us in battle, be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil. May God rebuke him, we humbly pray; and do thou, O Prince of the Heavenly Host, by the power of God, cast into hell Satan and all the evil spirits who prowl about the world seeking the ruin of souls.
